DUCS

The DBIT Undergraduate Computer Society (DUCS) has come a long way from its establishment in 2003 assisting the System Administrators of DBIT to developing and managing projects required for academic purposes of the institute. There are many students in DBIT who wish to know what exactly happens in the multimedia laboratory. This report is the answer to all those questions.

DUCS has been actively involved behind the scenes providing technical support during the technical festivals of DBIT over the past few years. Other than that, this student body was instrumental in the creation of DBIT projects like Moodle, student feedback system, mail service and our very own college website. The members of DUCS are not only adept in technical aspects but also in management skills thus advising the student council of DBIT from time to time.

In 2006, it initiated the MultiDUCS group whose sole purpose was to bring about awareness among the students and staff of the role of multimedia in today’s world. MultiDUCS gave birth to a new project called CRAVE whose aim is to build a Multimedia Production house running only on open source and free applications.

CRAVE is a recursive acronym for CRAVE Research in Audio Visual Engineering. Because of its remarkable success it went on from being a simple project to a full fledged Organisation.

The multimedia laboratory of DBIT also known as the CRAVE lab is today the cyber garage for CRAVE and DUCS.

DUCS exists to pursue technical activities beyond and above the scope of the curriculum. We are a volunteer-based society that only admits DBIT students and faculty. Our mission is to provide both infrastructure and support for your technical projects.

The reason DUCS was formed was to support YOUR projects, YOUR ideas. If you have a project in mind, no matter how small (or big), contact the DUCS Team, giving all relevant details. We'll discuss it, and make sure you receive all the help required to approve your project.
