Since the beginning of its establishment, CRAVE intended to build its very own Multimedia training facility. Introduction of the CRAVE Multimedia Package has now demanded the need of such training facility.

This article is an detailed description of training facility and its very training program.

Training Program

The training program consists of the following open source multimedia authoring environments:

  • Blender
  • Blender Video Sequence Editor
  • GIMP
  • Inkscape
  • Open Office Draw
  • Audacity
  • Open Movie Editor/ KDENlive


The program aims to teach basic fundamentals and technology before training the software itself. This way the overall program is build on a strong foundation of concepts and its practical application. For e.g. while training the student with audacity (sound editor) he/ she will be trained with the sound technology (sampling rate, recording fundamentals, etc.)

The training program ensure an engineer's point along with getting a person skilled in using an application.

Softwares

Although the training materials of the applications are yet to be finalized a standard will be taken into consideration while preparing it. The degree of detail to which the authoring environment will be trained will vary from application to application. This will be designed by the respective trainer and later will be reviewed and finalized by the management.

Standard

The following is a list of topics each training material must cover:

  • Technology and fundamentals of the technology the application is working in.
  • Brief Introduction & History of the application
  • Installation procedure
  • Structured/ Level wise tutorial
  • Tips/ tricks
  • Shortcoming & workaround

This section of the article will undergo revision as per the inputs from the management and trainers.
